Senior Optometrist

Roshni Minhas

Roshni Minhas is a highly experienced Senior Optometrist at Eye Opticians, with over 15 years of experience in clinical practice.

After graduating in Optometry from Aston University in Birmingham, Roshni continued her academic and professional development, completing her Doctorate in Optometry at the University of Waterloo in Canada.

She has a particular interest in the assessment, treatment and management of dry eye, helping patients find effective solutions for what can often be a persistent and uncomfortable condition.

Roshni is also passionate about community-based eye care and is qualified to provide Community Urgent Eyecare Services as well as Enhanced Cataract Services, allowing her to support patients with a wider range of eye health needs.

For Roshni, optometry brings together her passion for healthcare and working with people. She particularly enjoys getting to know her patients, understanding their individual needs and using her clinical skills to make a positive difference to their vision and eye health.

Outside the practice, Roshni loves travelling and discovering new cultures. She also enjoys spending time in nature and is a keen foodie who loves discovering new places to eat.

Optometrist

Jatinder Kalsi

Jatinder, better known as JK, joined Eye Opticians in 2018, bringing with him experience from an independent optical background.

Committed to continually developing his clinical expertise, JK has undertaken further education in areas including glaucoma and independent prescribing, broadening his knowledge in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of eye conditions.

JK has a particular passion for contact lens fitting and specialises in finding solutions for patients with complex prescriptions, working with a wide range of contact lens designs to achieve the best possible vision, comfort and fit.

His approach to optometry is relaxed, thorough and informative. JK believes in taking the time to listen to his patients, understand any concerns they may have and explain his findings clearly. His aim is not simply to carry out an eye examination, but to identify problems and find practical solutions that make a genuine difference to his patients’ vision and everyday life.

Outside of optics, JK particularly enjoys his most important role – being Dad. When permitted, he can also be found playing football! He is a keen follower of all sports and has a particular love of Bhangra music.

Dispensing · Frames & Lenses

Serena Micklewright

Serena joined Eye Opticians in 2015 and has over 30 years of experience in the optical industry. With an excellent eye for style, she enjoys helping patients choose frames that complement their face shape, features and personality.

Her extensive dispensing experience also enables her to recommend the most appropriate lens design, material and coatings to suit each patient’s prescription, lifestyle and visual needs. Serena’s aim is always to achieve the perfect balance of clear vision, comfort and great-looking eyewear.

Outside of work, Serena loves travelling, socialising and spending quality time with her family.

Practice Team · Contact Lenses & Dry Eye

Tammy Enright

Tammy joined Eye Opticians in 2021, bringing with her a strong customer-focused retail background and a real passion for helping people.

She particularly enjoys helping customers choose eyewear that suits their style, personality and everyday needs, making the experience relaxed and enjoyable. Tammy has also developed expertise in dry eye products and contact lenses, helping customers understand the different options available and find solutions that work for them.

Her friendly and approachable personality makes her a familiar and welcoming face in the practice.

Outside of work, Tammy loves reading, socialising and spending time with family and friends. More recently, she has also become Eye Opticians’ very own Instagram and TikTok star, bringing her personality and sense of fun to our social media!

Barnt Green · Dry Eye & Contact Lenses

Sian Dowler

Sian joined Eye Opticians in 2018 and brings over 15 years of experience in optics, having worked in both multiple and independent practices.

Based at our Barnt Green practice, Sian particularly enjoys being part of the village community and getting to know patients and their families over the years. She has a keen interest in the clinical side of eye care and is trained in dry eye products and contact lenses, as well as recognising symptoms that may require further investigation through the Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES).

Sian also enjoys helping patients with their eyewear, offering friendly and practical advice to find frames and lens options that suit their individual needs.

Outside of work, Sian enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid reader with an interest in a wide range of subjects.

Administration & Accounts

Paulette Creagan

Paulette has been part of the Eye Opticians team at Barnt Green for over 12 years, bringing with her a wealth of administrative experience and knowledge of the practice.

Working behind the scenes, Paulette looks after the administration and accounts side of the business, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practices. She is also always happy to assist patients with general optical enquiries and point them in the right direction.

Outside of work, Paulette enjoys walking, nature and gardening, as well as spending time with Reggie, whose great sense of humour always keeps her entertained!

Dispensing

Ghazala Akram

Ghazala joined Eye Opticians in 2018, bringing with her experience from an independent optical background.

Known for her friendly, honest and straight-talking approach, Ghazala believes in giving customers clear and practical advice. She enjoys helping patients with their dispensing needs, from choosing the right eyewear to offering guidance on lenses and ensuring they feel comfortable and confident with their choice.

Always ready to help, Ghazala’s warm personality and refreshingly straightforward approach have made her a familiar face with many of our patients.

Outside of work, Ghazala is very family-orientated and enjoys spending time with her family, looking after those around her and bringing everyone together by entertaining family and friends.
